Detailed Itinerary – 2 Days Zanzibar Holiday
Day 1: Arrival – Stone Town Tour & Prison Island
After your arrival at Abeid Amani Karume International Airport or the ferry terminal, your guide will meet and transfer you to your hotel for check-in. Once settled, your adventure begins with a guided Stone Town tour, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its narrow streets, Arabic architecture, and vibrant markets.
You’ll explore:
-
The Old Fort and House of Wonders (Beit-al-Ajaib)
-
Sultan’s Palace Museum and Old Slave Market
-
Darajani Market, the heart of local life
-
Freddie Mercury’s House, the childhood home of Queen’s lead singer
After lunch at a local restaurant, head to Prison Island (Changuu Island) by boat. The island is home to giant Aldabra tortoises, some over 150 years old. You’ll also have time for swimming and snorkeling in the crystal-clear waters.
Return to Stone Town in the late afternoon and enjoy a sunset dinner by the ocean — perhaps at The Beach House, 6 Degrees South, or Forodhani Gardens Night Market for local seafood delicacies.
Accommodation: Hotel in Stone Town or beachfront resort
Meal Plan: Lunch & Dinner
Day 2: Spice Farm & Beach Relaxation
After breakfast, depart for Zanzibar’s famous Spice Tour — a journey through lush plantations where you’ll see, smell, and taste the island’s world-famous spices like cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla. Learn how these spices are grown and used, and enjoy a traditional Swahili lunch prepared with fresh ingredients from the farm.
Later, drive to one of Zanzibar’s beautiful beaches — Nungwi or Kendwa Beach — for a relaxing afternoon. Enjoy sunbathing, swimming, or a quick dhow ride on the turquoise Indian Ocean. If time allows, visit local fishing villages or beachside cafes for fresh coconut juice.
Depending on your flight or ferry schedule, you’ll be transferred back to Stone Town or the airport for departure.
