Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Momella Gate – Miriakamba Hut (2,514m)
After breakfast in Arusha, drive to Arusha National Park and complete park formalities at Momella Gate. Meet your park ranger and guide, then begin your trek through lush montane forests alive with wildlife — you might spot buffaloes, giraffes, warthogs, and monkeys along the trail.
The path gently ascends through forest clearings, streams, and open glades. Arrive at Miriakamba Hut by afternoon for rest and dinner. The views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the Ash Cone of Mount Meru are spectacular from this point.

Day 2: Miriakamba Hut – Saddle Hut (3,570m)
Start early after breakfast and trek through the mountain forest to the heath zone, passing scenic viewpoints such as Mgongo wa Tembo (Elephant Ridge). Enjoy a break here to admire the sweeping views of the crater and the Meru summit above you.
Continue climbing to Saddle Hut, located below Little Meru (3,820m). After lunch, take an optional acclimatization hike to Little Meru Peak for stunning sunset views over Mount Kilimanjaro and the plains of Arusha. Return to the hut for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Saddle Hut – Summit (4,566m) – Momella Gate
Wake up around 1:00 a.m. for your summit attempt. Equipped with a headlamp, begin a steep climb along the rocky ridge to Rhinopoint (3,800m) and onward to the Meru Summit (Socialist Peak, 4,566m) just before sunrise.
Reaching the summit is a breathtaking moment — you’ll witness Mount Kilimanjaro glowing in the morning light and the vast plains stretching endlessly below. Spend time capturing photos before descending carefully back to Saddle Hut for breakfast.
After a short rest, continue down to Momella Gate, where your vehicle will be waiting for transfer back to Arusha.
