6 Days Kilimanjaro Marangu Route – Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut

Elevation: 1,860m to 2,700m
Distance: 8 km
Time: 4–5 hours

Trek begins at Marangu Gate through dense rainforest. The path is shady and lush, with chances to see monkeys, birds, and exotic plants. You will arrive at Mandara Hut for dinner and overnight stay.


Day 2: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut

Elevation: 2,700m to 3,720m
Distance: 12 km
Time: 5–6 hours

The trail gradually climbs through moorland. You will see giant groundsels, lobelias, and volcanic formations. Arrive at Horombo Hut, a large hut complex where trekkers rest before the summit attempt.


Day 3: Acclimatization Day at Horombo Hut

Distance: 20 km
